Privacy policy
What we collect, why, and how to have it removed. Short and in plain English.
The short version
- We only collect what you choose to send us, plus basic, anonymous site statistics.
- We never sell or rent your information.

What you send us
Email reminders. When you sign up for reminders, we collect your email address and which page you signed up from. If you signed up from the plan builder, we may also get your lawn size and region so reminders can match your plan. We use this only to send Turf Method lawn emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can reply and ask to be removed.
Ask Turf Method. When you send a question, we collect what you type in the form: your question, your first name if you give it, your email, your general area, products you've used, and any photos you attach. We use it to answer you. If you choose "share it anonymously," we may publish the question and an answer on the site without your name or email, naming only your general area. If you choose "answer me privately," we won't publish it.
Emails to us. If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can reply.
Forms on this site are handled by our web host, Netlify, which stores submissions for us.
The plan builder and calculators
The lawn plan builder, quiz, and calculators run in your browser. Your yard size and region are saved in your own browser (local storage) so your plan is still there next time. That information isn't sent to us unless you also sign up for reminders. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Site statistics
We use Google Analytics to see which pages are useful: page views, how people arrive at the site, rough location (city or region), device type, and whether a signup form was used. Google sets cookies to do this. We've turned off Google Signals and ad personalization, and we don't use this data to identify you or to show you ads. You can read how Google uses this data or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address the way any website you load does.
Affiliate links
Some product links go to stores like Amazon through affiliate programs. When you click one, that store or its affiliate network may set a cookie so it knows Turf Method sent you. If you buy something, we may earn a commission. We never see your name, address, or payment details, only that a sale happened. Those stores' own privacy policies apply on their sites. Sharing
We don't sell, rent, or trade your information. It's shared only with the services that run the site (like Netlify and Google Analytics) to do the jobs above, or if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Reminder signups are kept until you unsubscribe. Questions and emails are kept as long as they're useful for answering you and improving the site, and are deleted on request.
Children
Turf Method is written for adults who take care of a lawn. It isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent us something, email us and we'll delete it.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from any reminder email with the link at the bottom.
- Ask to see, correct, or delete your information at hello@turfmethod.com.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
